Welcome to the official web site of the Oldham British Kyokushinkai Karate club. The club is run as a committee by Bryn Hughes (club secretary and instructor), Kenny Mortin (instructor)
and Sue Hughes who runs the administration side (treasurer).

We are fully affiliated members of the INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION of KARATE and the BRITISH KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE Associations.

The club was first established in Oldham over 25 years ago and was run by Shihan Alex Kerrigan 6th Dan. He is currently the BKK and IFK Chief Referee for Knockdown, and was for many years the Instructor at Oldham Dojo. the present status of the club is that of a members club, run as a committee 'for the members by the members'.

2006 sees another busy year ahead; Summer Camp 2006 (seniors)
This year's camp will be on 9th - 13th August in Oxford.

A fantastic day of fighting and teamwork; 6 fighters, myself, Ken, Mags and Sam travelled to Llantrisant for a day out!Sam Hughes was there in the capacity of chief water carrier and cameraman rolled into one !(hey sam where's the pics)
Novice section
Lightweight Women: Paula Slack
Lightweight Men: Ruben Mitchell
Middleweight Men: Mark Sharples
Heavyweight Men: Andy Rourke & Scott Hamlin
Heavyweight Men Open: Richard Seaton

Mark Sharples started the day with an entertaining fight taking his opponent to three 2 min rounds winning by decision, Andy Rourke next; good fight by Andy again going three 2 mins, powerful punches by Andy failed to prevent his opponent (The French Novice Heavyweight champion) from winning. Ruben Mitchell again three mins saw him narrowly losing out in the semi final gaining 3rd place.
Scott Hamlin; First action packed fight saw Scott show his spinning ushiro mawashi's, next round, again lots of hard punching and fast kicks, (although he did nearly take the referee out). 3rd Place for Scott
Paula Slack good punching and fast blocking saw Paula take the 2nd place, should have been 1st , excellent fight from Paula.
Richard Seaton; Richard met an excellent fighter who had just moved up a weight! Hard luck for Richard
I must say from the comments I received from the Chairman, Shihan Liam Keaveney, BKK committee members and contest judges, 'that I should be proud of the fighters from Oldham'

Could any members with a digital camera please take some photo's at the club so they can be displayed in the albums, ( please make sure your camera is set on the lowest setting, 640 by 480 pixels). You can mail them to graham so he can upload them.
