The fundraising efforts in 2005 saw us able to organise the accommodation for the 42 people who attended the World Tournament. We would like to build on this by organising more fundraising events, which could again pay for such trips and even pay for the whole of This years Christmas Party. We are also looking at applying for lottery grants in order to fund training courses for those juniors interested in various competitions, for new equipment etc.

Equipment Purchases
Remember, we have a range of goods available to buy at very reasonable prices; Gi's starting at £12.50 up to a maximum of £15. (Try buying a Gi in JJB for that price!) We also stock every belt you can think of, even Black, when you get there! Shin pads, Hand mitts, Kata books, Syllabuses, Kihon books, Badges, you name it we can get hold of it at cheap prices. What I intend to do is order things on a monthly basis in order to keep p&p down to a minimum. If you want any goods please let me know by the last training day of each month (I'll remind people)

Summer Camp 2006 (seniors)
This year's camp will be on 9th - 13th August in Oxford, for those of you interested I will be starting the 'easy payment accounts' this week.

World Tournament 2005 Well done to Sempai Kenny who fought in the recent World Tournament, unfortunately Ken was beaten in the early rounds by a Russian fighter, Roman Uzanyan, who went on to win the championships.

Student of the Year
This years Christmas party saw our annual awards for Student of the Year and Attendance prizes.

Junior Student went to Sam Hughes for the second time in 4 years, Sam has remained focused for the whole year, successfully taking his brown belt, attending training sessions every 3 months at Crystal Palace and attending squad selections. Well done. Come on juniors give him some competition this year.

Senior Student went to Sempai Mags Thompson, we don't usually include the Black Belts but Mags has made some excellent progress in 2005. She returned to training after a break and successfully completed her Black Belt at Summer Camp, which is very hard to say the least.

Attendance Awards

The junior award went to Daniel Himes for the second year running; Daniels attendance for the year was an amazing 98%, well done.

The senior award went to Mark Sharples with an attendance of 88%.

National Knockdown
We intend to submit a proposal to the National Executive Committee that we hold the 2006 or 2007 National Knockdown at the National Cycling arena in Manchester. We are putting together our 'bid' via a presentation DVD, if there is anyone out there with the necessary expertise in this area please get in touch. The National Knockdown sees entries from Russia, USA, France, Ireland etc we feel it would be a boost for Kyokushinkai in the North if we managed to secure this. Any help or support would be appreciated.

Knockdown Fighting
A number of the seniors have expressed an interest in taking part in knockdown fighting this year; if you are interested and are looking at fighting in May 2006 then 'we', need to prepare for this. Please let us know if you intend fighting then we can plan your training schedule soon.
